I used to have a problem with cold air coming through my recessed lights and it made my living room and bedroom very uncomfortable, especially now in the winter time. I put these over the existing can and they completely stopped the cold air. I don't know how much money they will save me on my energy bill in the long run, but the regained cozy feeling in my home was definitely worth it.
These were perfect. I have 10 IC can lights in my attic and am in the process of getting it ready to blow in insulation. It was very convenient to be able to tear the edge where I needed it to route the electrical wires through. It is also great that they are flexible as some of the lights were not well centered between the joists.
No complaints and I haven't had any lights overheat (and turn off) since installing these even though we have had 25 days this year over 100 degrees.
